Client Case Study: Crystal, silverware and fine china product photography
From our Product photography Studio in Surrey, we have been working with the man behind De Lamerie in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, David Ward, and his exclusive sales and marketing team for over ten years. But due to strict client confidentiality, we have never been able to share this photography, until now.
Many of the images we’ve taken over the years, have been for bespoke dining sets for their distinguished clients. But as they have just launched a beautiful new website, certain images and designs have had approval to be released.
Introducing De Lamerie
De Lamerie - design and manufacture the finest china, crystal and silverware anywhere in the world; carefully hand-crafted at their factory in Stoke-on-Trent, England.
The Brief:
David originally came to us wanting a few lifestyle shots of some of their designs to update their image library. Over the years the setups and requirements have grown to cover imagery for their eagerly awaited for catalogues, editorial articles and advertising, bespoke gift albums, and now their new website.
Our photography has to capture the high quality and craftsmanship of each product, whether we set up and shoot them individually or as a group. It’s all about the rich details, and textures, especially the gold, hand-painted finishing touches.
Whatever the photographic requirements are, shooting from various angles, close-up details, and lifestyles, the basic brief has always remained the same - Luxury, attention to detail, beautiful lighting - DON’T DROP ANYTHING.
Our Approach:
For every product photoshoot with De Lamerie, in our photographic studio, the white gloves go on to protect the hand-crafted details, and prevent any unwanted marks. Giles isn’t allowed to touch anything, and my blood pressure goes up.
Many of the designs we photograph are one-off, bespoke pieces, just waiting to go off to their elite new homes around the World.
Although we are just taking the photographs, we do enjoy being part of this exclusive process and seeing the beautiful new designs, as well as classic favourites.
Surfaces and backgrounds are selected to complement the colours and designs. Although many of the pieces are traditional in style, there are also some exciting, contemporary designs which give us the perfect creative challenge.
On these product shoots, props are kept to a minimum to allow the setups to focus purely on the unique, handcrafted pieces. But we have been known to get excited over feather wrangling and artistic positioning of faux diamonds to enhance the designs. Florals also play their part on a De Lamerie photoshoot, as well as steady hands and no sudden movements!

Our photographic images, from the most recent to some from the original collection, continue to promote these beautiful products, both online and in print format. And most importantly, attract attention from the most discerning clientele around the World.
